Preschool and Children’s Ministry

The goal of our preschool ministry is to provide a safe and secure environment in which preschoolers can learn that God loves them. We do this by teaching using the eight ways that preschoolers learn (senses, curiosity, hands on experience, satisfaction, relationships, imitation, play and repetition) to teach them biblical truths.

Also, to keep your children safe and secure we require you to sign your infant or preschooler in at the Ministry Center in the main lobby. Preschoolers will only be released to the person that dropped them off. No child will be allowed to go and find their parent. Parents must come and pick up their children.

Kindergarten through fifth graders meet for Kid’s Cove during our morning worship service. This gives them a setting in which they can experience worship songs, games, crafts, and Bible stories designed especially for their unique needs. Our children’s staff will help your child to learn biblical principles, strengthen their memorization skills, develop a team attitude, and enjoy a worship experience targeted to their age level.

For you and your child’s safety we also require parents to sign in their K-5th grade child at the desk in the east lobby. Children will only be released to the person that dropped them off. No child will be allowed to go and find their parent. Parents must come and pick up their children.

Our children’s ministry hosts many other events during the year for our kids such as swim parties, Vacation Bible School in the summer, a Trunk Fest in the fall, Water Wars, Christmas musicals and parties, an Easter egg hunt and much more!

Your child’s safety and security is of the utmost importance to our church staff. We require a criminal background check be completed on each of our preschool and children’s ministry volunteers annually.

Music Ministry

We believe that music is a vital part of any worship service. It can be a time of reflection, a time of meditation, and a time to worship and glorify God. Our worship services are primarily contemporary with an occasional traditional hymn or praise chorus, but always with one common goal: to worship and glorify our Lord and Savior.

FBCE offers many ways to participate in the music ministry. The Praise Team is a great way to get involved. Currently we have one team of singers and musicians, but we would like to continue to grow this ministry by adding new vocalists and musicians. Another opportunity is to join the Audio/Light Team. This team plays a vital role in both rehearsals and worship services. The children’s music program is also a great way to get involved. We have a music camp in the summer and work on a Christmas musical in the fall. We are always looking for help with these events.

Please feel free to contact our Worship Leader, Jennifer Givens, if you have any questions about our music programs or would like to become part of our team.

Sunday School

If you are looking for connections with others who are seeking answers to spiritual questions or searching for ways to authenticate your Christian experience, a Sunday school class will help you to begin accomplishing these goals. We then put into practice the principles we learn by serving each other and our larger community. Classes begin promptly at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings and end at 10:45 a.m. There is a place for everyone in Sunday school at First Baptist Church of Emerson! Please join us!

Classes offered are: Birth-1 year, 1’s and 2’s, 3’s and 4’s, K-3rd grade, 4th-5th grade, 6th-8th grade, 9th -12th grade, Young Adults, Median Adults, and Senior Adults.

Women’s Ministry

Without women none of us would be here. This is a true statement for us individually but also corporately as a church. The service of the women of FBCE is difficult to overstate. Our Women on Mission meet monthly to do service projects for our community as well as celebrate the happy occasions of those in our church family with bridal and baby showers.

We have a group of ladies that also meet on Friday mornings for a time of Bible study. Come and join us as we fellowship, share and grow together!

We have a Ladies Luncheon annually during which time you will enjoy a wonderful meal and inspirational stories and be challenged to grow in your faith.

Youth Ministry

Being a teenager today is challenging. Helping students deal with these challenges and navigate life’s obstacles from a biblical perspective is our mission. Everything we do serves this overarching purpose. All activities are based on biblical principles and are supervised by people who love students and appreciate the special challenges which they face.

Students gather weekly on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. We believe that teenagers need time to hang out with other youth and have wholesome fun.

Additionally, we have special events that include fun activities, movie nights, lock-ins, concerts, retreats, camps, mission activities and “Disciple Now” weekends.

Prayer Ministry

Prayer requests can be submitted on the back of the Welcome Card located on the back of the seat in front of you in the Sanctuary at FBCE. You may also submit your request for prayer on our website, by e-mailing prayer@fbc-e.org, or by phone at 770.382.5874 (choose the prayer line option).

When needs arise, prayer intercessors are phoned or e-mailed relaying the need so that the entire church can be mobilized for prayer and can begin to pray at a moment’s notice using our Prayer Chain.

Different church members volunteer to pray before and during our Sunday morning worship service on a rotating basis as our Partners in Prayer.

Please contact the church office at 770.382.5874 or by emailing prayer@fbc-e.org if you are interested in joining our prayer ministry as a prayer partner or prayer chain member!

Senior Adult Ministry

We have an active Senior Adult Sunday school class that has breakfasts, a fish fry, day trips and other opportunities for social interaction throughout the year. This community is organized into care groups so that everyone has someone to call and check on them regularly and to step up when help is needed. Our senior adults truly know how to love and care for one another!

Men’s Ministry

We believe that real men love Jesus! Our men are involved in many different ministries.

Our men often host Turkey Shoots for our missions ministry around Thanksgiving each year.

We also have men who serve in the Disaster Relief Ministry of Georgia Baptists. Some of our men have helped Bartow, Paulding, Cobb, and Cherokee county residents clean up after tornadoes or straight line winds destroyed their property. Men and women from our church gave aid to the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita among others.
